Staying on Schouwen-Duiveland

Rural, and entirely your own

Schouwen-Duiveland is the northernmost island of Zeeland: beach and dunes on one side, the Oosterschelde on the other, and in between a polder of dikes, creeks and quiet villages. We rent out a single self-contained guest studio on our farmyard in Nieuwerkerk, in the middle of the island — no hotel, no breakfast room, but a place of your own with its own kitchen and entrance.

Where you sleep

A self-contained studio for two, with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and a spot in the garden. You come and go as you please; we live on the same yard, but your privacy is complete.

Cycling and walking

From the yard you join the cycle network straight away. Narrow dike lanes, flowering verges and views across the polder — towards the beach or along the water, for as long as you like.

Beach and water

The Oosterschelde is five minutes away, the beach at Renesse a little under half an hour. In between lie creeks and reed beds where it is surprisingly still; bring binoculars.

Food and shopping

The supermarket in Nieuwerkerk is a five-minute drive, Zierikzee with its terraces and restaurants ten. With a kitchen of your own you can just as easily cook and eat outside.
